Mezzo-soprano Amanda Staub has been praised as “brilliant and beautiful… a jewel.” (West Hawaii Today). She made her role debut as Dido in Vienna, Austria this summer. In the coming season Amanda will perform the roles of Stephano in Roméo et Juliette, Flora in La Traviata, & Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
In 2022, Amanda made her role debut as Hannah (after) in Laura Kaminsky’s As One with the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival where “she captured Hannah without pretense, simply and sincerely… her acting was flawless” and “her 17 minutes of continuous singing was mind boggling for this reviewer” (Big Island Music).
A former resident artist of Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton, New York where she performed the role of Tisbe in La Cenerentola as well as covering the title role, Edna in Joe Illick’s children’s opera Stone Soup, Monkey Queen and Lord Tiger in Monkey & Francine in the City of Tigers and was a featured soloist in Tri-Cities and Annapolis Opera’s video co-production of Acis and Galatea.
Amanda is a graduate of the Maryland Opera Studio where she performed the roles of Bessie in Kurt Weill’s Mahagonny Songspiel, Emma Jones in Street Scene, and a “zesty” (PG Sentinel) Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro.
Other recently performed roles include Deborah (Non motus) in Poptart Punk Opera’s inaugural season, Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Sesto (Giulio Cesare), and the title role in Ariodante. Equally at home on the concert stage, Ms. Staub has performed as a soloist in recital with the Philadelphia Chorus, at The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, and with Capital City Symphony alongside renowned operatic stars Kevin Short and Delores Ziegler. She has sung under the baton of accomplished conductors including Alexandra Enyart, Marin Alsop, Christoph Eschenbach, Natalie Stutzmann, Matthew Halls, and Gianandrea Noseda.
Passionate about education and providing students with opportunities, Amanda has held multiple positions as a private instructor and artistic administrator. As a student, she co-founded OperaTerps at the University of Maryland, a student-run opera company now in its ninth season. Amanda lives in Philadelphia, PA and is a student of Dr. Kathryn Leemhuis.
